Meet the team
At Harmony, we love coffee equipment. It’s been a long time passion that we have crafted over the last 20 years in the Coffee Industry. We’ve cultivated partnerships with some of the worlds greatest espresso machine manufacturers, each with their own unique take on equipment.
We work diligently to understand the unique requirements of your project - whether it’s a new cafe or you run a successful drive through that’s been around for years - we are happy to guide you in selecting equipment that is not only appropriate for your specific needs, but that will last for years to come.
When you choose to partner with us, Harmony becomes an integral part of your coffee journey. We will collaborate closely with you and your team, ensuring a seamless process from start to install and beyond.
Once install has been completed, we continue to provide you with the essential service and support to keep your equipment operating at peak performance throughout its lifespan.
At Harmony, our commitment doesn't end with the purchase – it’s just the beginning of a lasting partnership, ensuring the longevity and performance of your equipment.
Who is Harmony?
Byron Betts
Owner, Technician
Byron, Amy, Opal, Thea & Ava (doggo!)
Byron has been in the coffee industry for nearly 20 years, and is so grateful to be a part of a wonderful community of people. He started off as a barista in Tacoma at one the best (his words!) 3rd wave shops to have ever existed (hello Blackwater Cafe!) After a few years, he went on to be a partner in a coffee roasting company in tacoma, called Valhalla Coffee Roasters (they are still around and roasting some great coffee - check them out!) After he sold his stake in the roastery, he then went on to work for an espresso parts supply company for a short stint, and then became the Head of Education for Victrola Coffee Roasters in Seattle. Over the course of the next 7 years, he traveled all around the US helping independent cafe’s get up and running through cafe layout and bar flow, equipment recommendations, and staff training. At the turn of the new decade, Byron decided it was time to start Harmony Coffee Service in Mount Vernon, WA - in order to take care of cafe’s and drive throughs that have all been under served in the area of coffee equipment support. He loves living and working in Skagit and all around the San Juans, and looks forward to doing so for many years to come!
Kelsey Browning
Technician, Dispatch Coordinator, Social Media Human
Kelsey has a habit of finding the largest tools in the store and embarrassing Byron by getting photos with them.
For reference, she’s 5 feet tall.
Kelsey began her journey in Skagit County’s coffee scene in 2010 at a small shop called Common Ground Cafe. After it closed, she joined Whidbey Coffee, not knowing she'd spend over a decade there. Within a year, she advanced from barista to leadership roles, and in 2018 she became the manager of Whidbey Coffee’s largest cafe, located in Burlington, WA.
When Byron launched Harmony Coffee Service, he took on all the Whidbey Coffee locations. During his service visits, Kelsey was always eager to understand his methods for properly maintaining the equipment (especially to avoid emergencies!). Needing a new challenge, Kelsey transitioned from the daily grind of slinging caffeine to becoming a full-time Technician at Harmony in 2023. Now, she enjoys serving the community with wrenches instead of portafilters :)
